Lakbay Norte 2: Lodgings in Cagayan Valley

Cagayan Valley was our home away from home during the first three days of the Lakbay Norte 2.

After paying courtesy calls with the government officials of Gonzaga, the group headed to Santa Ana, Cagayan. We called it a day as we arrived at Sun City. Though tired and sleepy, my eyes opened wide as  we entered the gates. The lights illuminating the road sandwiched in between the white villas gave a homey ambiance.

Sun City, a seven-hectare hotel and casino, recently opened its doors to Filipinos. Before, it only catered its services to foreigners, usually Taiwanese and Chinese from Mainland China. Most of the staff are Filipinos but the supervisor and receptionists are Chinese.

For those who can’t get enough of the online world, the lobby and the restaurant are wifi-zones. After satisfying our hunger, the hotel cart service fetched us and dropped us at our villa. When I opened the door, I only uttered the word, “wow!” It felt like I’m home.

The villa is good for families or those traveling in groups.

Here were the pictures of SUN CITY:

The bed was so cozy and comfy that I wanted to sleep longer but the clock alarmed. The phone also rang. It was our wake-up call at 5 am for our Palaui Adventure.

EASTERN HAWAII HOTEL

Our next lodging in Cagayan Valley was the Eastern Hawaii Hotel. From afar, the entrance to the hotel resembled the gates of Laguna Technopark. The exterior looked like a manufacturing company. Chinese characters can also be seen on the building. Like Sun City, they also cater to Chinese who play in casinos.

Though the hotel was a bit old, the staff were friendly and service-oriented. There’s also a free 15-minute back massage.

Our room has no frills but it was spacious. One can even fall asleep on the sofa, which was so fluffy and comfy. There were also complimentary fruits on the table. The restaurant offers delicious Chinese food.
