Strategically located just a few meters away from the South Cebu Bus Terminal, Southpole Central Hotel was the perfect choice, if taking an early bus trip to popular tourist spots such as Kawasan Falls, Oslob and Moalboal. All of these can be reached via Ceres buses situated at the said terminal.
Its location was my main reason for choosing the hotel. But there’s more to Southpole other than the opposite of Northpole.
When we arrived, the staff at the reception greeted us with smiles and provided us with welcome drinks at the modern contemporary-inspired lobby of the hotel.
They also gave wifi passwords written on small strips of paper. Check-in was a breeze. The hotel staff ushered us to our rooms. The elderly won’t be having a hard time in this hotel as it has an elevator. Everything looks new and in its mint condition having opened in less than a year (December 2015).
The superior room, which can fit three people, was painted in hues of beige matched with tangerine accent. It also has an ambient lighting that is conducive for sleeping.
Basic amenities such as toiletries, towels, and complimentary bottled water are provided. At PHP 1,800 per night for 3 pax, we got a stylish room that was light on the pocket.
The room has a neat and modern ensuite toilet. The bed was on the firmer side though.
Our booking came with a free breakfast. We were lucky that buffet was offered that time because of the number of guests checked-in.
The dining area is just across the reception. Southpole also offers an all-day dining option. They are open to serve food from 6am to 10pm.
After breakfast, we checked out and left our luggage at the reception counter for safekeeping. Off we went to South Cebu Bus Terminal on foot. It was good 10-minute walk to the terminal.
During our stay, the wifi was a bit slow. Maybe, it’s because its fully booked. Though each guest is given a strip of paper with password, I think the hotel needs to upgrade their internet speed plan.
Will I recommend staying here?
-YES. If you’re looking for a comfortable, stylish yet affordable hotel near South Cebu Bus Terminal, Carbon Market, Basilica of Sto. Nino and Magellan’s Cross, then look no further and book your stay at Southpole Central Hotel.
