
One hundred fifty-one years ago, a hero was born into this world. One hundred fifty-one years after, his legacy lives on.
He is Jose Rizal, who came from the then small town of Calamba, which is now an industrialized city.
If you’re a big fan of the Philippines’ national hero, then head to his hometown, Calamba City. It is where you can find the world’s tallest monument of Jose Rizal to date.
A 22-foot (6.9 meters) bronze statue of Jose Rizal, which was created by Jonas Roces, stands in front of the new City hall of Calamba. Jose Rizal’s statue was inaugurated on his 150th birthday on June 19, 2011.

The monument is located in the middle of the 6.7 hectare field which also serves as a sports venue for football tournaments.
How to get to Calamba City:
1. From Buendia, ride a bus bound for Sta. Cruz, Laguna. (e.g. Greenstar and DLTB). Fare is Php 79.00.
2. Alight at the Crossing Terminal or in SM Calamba City. From there, ride a Los Banos-bound jeepney.
3. Alight at Brgy. Halang (Landmarks: Mazapan Sweets, Yellow Cab Pizza).
4. From there, take a tricycle and tell the driver to bring you in front of the City Hall.
